November 3, 2016. Student Competition Announced
As part of Building Simulation 2017, IBPSA is organizing a student modeling competition. This year’s competition involves using computer simulation to design and test a laboratory building with mixed uses including labs, offices, and classroom spaces located in downtown San Francisco, CA, USA. The winning team will present their work at the conference. For information go to here.
October 15, 2016 - Call for Building Simulation 2017 Presentation/Session Proposals
An exciting new feature of the Building Simulation conference is the opportunity to present alternative sessions that complement the traditional peer-reviewed paper sessions (abstract acceptance for peer-reviewed papers to be announced October 19, 2016). These new sessions provide opportunities for practitioners to report on their work, for researchers to present more timely results, and for all participants to engage in discussions about the building modeling field. Creativity in content and format is encouraged; examples include team case studies, debates, forums, and mini workshops.
Pre-proposal submissions are being accepted through December 15, 2016.
For more information please click here.
October 10, 2016 - Student Travel Awards
In order to assist as many students as possible to participate in Building Simulation 2017, IBPSA will grant travel awards of up to $1,000 USD to students presenting peer-reviewed papers. The number of places is limited to a maximum of 5 grants and as a result is highly competitive. Deadline for submission is January 17, 2017.

July 31, 2016 – Anica Landreneau, Keynote Speaker
The program committee of Building Simulation 2017 is happy to announce that Anica Landreneau will join the conference program as a keynote speaker.
Ms. Landreneau is a Principal and Global Sustainable Design Director of HOK, and she leads the sustainable discipline and consultancy practice at HOK. Anica serves on HOK’s Board of Directors and Design Board, and is a past member of the Management and Marketing Boards.
Anica co-authored with the U.S. General Services Administration The New Sustainable Frontier: Principles of Sustainable Development, and for the Saudi Arabian government authored the Sustainable Urban Planning Guidelines for New Growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Especially interesting to Building Simulation 2017 attendees is Anica’s advocacy of building performance simulation.
Energy modeling is a no-brainer for HOK and for our clients. It’s like reading the MPG (miles per gallon) rating before you buy a car. It’s basic performance information every building investor should know. Energy modeling on all our projects helps HOK meet our internal energy and carbon commitment (AIA 2030), helps our clients find cost-effective ways to meet their sustainability goals, and supports a more creative, beautiful and resilient design outcome.

June 15, 2016 - Call for Abstracts
The Building Simulation 2017 Scientific Committee is pleased to announce that we are now accepting abstracts for peer-reviewed papers. Abstracts are due on August 10, 2016. Details of the requirements and the submission process are on the conference website.
The International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) will host Building Simulation 2017 in San Francisco, August 7-9, 2017. This is the 15th conference in the series that is the premier gathering of building performance simulation specialists from around the world.
June 1, 2016 - Welcome to San Francisco
IPBSA-USA is proud to host IBPSA’s 15th international conference, Building Simulation 2017, in San Francisco.
We’re excited about the conference venue, the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero Hotel. This high quality meeting facility will provide delegates with excellent networking and socializing opportunities. Its prime central location near the San Francisco Bay waterfront is convenient to both public transportation and to a wide range of dining and entertainment opportunities. Chinatown, North Beach and many of San Francisco’s interesting neighborhoods are within easy walking distance.
We also hope that delegates will have time to explore other parts of the San Francisco Bay Area and northern California. Redwood forests, the wine country, the Pacific coast, and Yosemite Valley are just a few examples of the opportunities that are easily accessible from San Francisco.
We hope to see you here!
